CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating a home in Rogers Park where human remains were discovered Monday morning.
Authorities were called to the 2800 block of W. Fitch Avenue just after 11 a.m. According to police, an elderly man who lived in the home recently passed away due to natural causes, and on Monday, his family members came to start cleaning out the house.
Police were alerted when family members discovered skeletal human remains in the home.
Neighbors told WGN News that the man who lived inside the home was friendly and kind. Many who spoke said they were surprised to see the police presence on their street in response to the discovery.
A neighbor named Sarah, who did not wish to provide her last name, added that Monday’s police response was the most activity they’d seen at the address over a week after the family came to do a wellness check.
“His whole family was here and they were wondering where he was, and they were asking neighbors,” she said.
