Concealed carry holder shoots home invader on South Side

CHICAGO — A man was shot after he broke into an apartment on the city’s South Side.

According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 7100 block of South Jeffery and found a 30-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

An investigation revealed that the man had forced his way into the residence and was shot by a 29-year-old man who was armed with a handgun inside the apartment. Police said the 29-year-old is a licensed concealed carry holder and was not injured.

The 30-year-old man was placed in custody and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. He is listed in fair condition, police say.

Area One Detectives are investigation. Police says the incident appears to be domestic-related.
