RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The combined Doane Stuart and Susan Odell Taylor School officially has a new name. It’s now known as the Hudson Ridge School.
Students and staff unveiled the new name during a ceremony Friday morning. The schools agreed to merge last year with the goal of combining their resources to provide the students with more opportunities for hands-on learning and career exploration.
“The benefit of having our two schools together is that we have that commonality and that we are creating an entirely new educational experience for the Capital Region,” Doane Stuart Head of School Marcy Cathey said.
The school had fun with the announcement. Students took turns playing basketball to earn points before each letter was revealed. They also decorated an inspiration wall where they wrote their hopes and dreams for the new school.
